When Lloyd "Trapper" Nelson
went on his first foray into the back-country of
Alaska back in 1920, he couldn't have known then the eventual impact he was
going to have on the way people, the world over, carried their belongings.
What he did know however was that one day he would go back home to Bremerton
Washington and employ some folks who lived and worked in that town to help
him manufacture what would become known as the first Trager "backpack."
Eighty years later, all of Trager's products are still designed and built
in the beautiful state of Washington -- just right across the Puget Sound
from where Trapper Nelson started the whole thing -- in a little town called
Seattle.
We at Trager Manufacturing get great pleasure in knowing that we can make
a product here in the good old US-of-A that will serve someone, literally,
well for life. All of our component materials, from fabric to zippers to
buckles and straps, are manufactured in the USA and then assembled at our
little plant here in the Northwest -- and we feel it is this one fact that
positions Trager's products as being of the highest quality bag or brief you
can own.
And even though we could get our wears produced overseas for a lot less,
it just wouldn't be the same American ingenuity that Trapper Nelson used on
his very first Pack Board. You see, it's not that we want to be one of these
giant manufacturers who believe quantity and price makes up for quality and
pride... We just want to make great stuff... in a great country.
So when you're on a mountain trail, or on a city sidewalk, or even in
your dormroom studying for that physics final, and you look over at your
Trager bag, be proud in knowing that you still can get an honest-to-goodness
"Made in America" product from an honest-to-goodness "Made in America"
company.
